Words have a unique ability to permeate and saturate the people around us. If the words that proceed from our mouths are rotten, putrid, defiling, or simply idle, we will affect those around us in a likewise manner. We are not only to put off such tendencies of speech, but also to put on speech which edifices and builds up. Speech that is a sweet odor, a beautiful fragrance. The Christian especially has power to change the atmosphere around us, let us watch therefore that we do not accidentally poison the air around us which others are forced to breath.
