God knows, He sees, He hears and He answers. Everything He commands us to do is for our benefit and greater good. No matter how hard our ground might be to break up, the reward from Him is refreshing and worth it.
God is faithful to break up any hardness of my heart as I come to seek him, He doesn't allow me to stay the same for long; while on my search for Him He changes me along the way. He makes a way for me to have a relationship with Him and the Bible says that He WILL be found when we seek Him! Lord I choose to seek YOU!
My righteousness is found in Christ, sowing righteousness is repentance. Being humble and open to what God wants to show me and willing to let Him change me is the way to draw closer to Him. Partnering with Him in this, deep self examination, breaking up the hard ground in our hearts and asking Him to transform us will grow a harvest of revival in us and through us.
Seeking the Lord without breaking into the hardened areas of my heart and mind could be a waste of time. It is to the broken He comes, to the contrite He gives mercy, the humble He exalts. To charge into a time of seeking the Lord without first digging into the condition of my heart, without doing some genuine soul-searching could end up a vain pursuit. To ignore the hardness of my heart, turn a blind eye to my sins or shortcomings will only further my deception and increase hardness. If I truly want to seek after God, to find Him, and reap the glorious future He has for me, I must stop and take a humble and repentant look and the soil of my heart, break up the stubbornness and hardness, and prepare for the waters of refreshing grace to make me new again :)
