God's ways are higher. His love reaches further than ours ever could. And yet He teaches us to love like Him and with Him. His instruction gathers us up to enable us carry out His will in unity and oneness.

This verse says it is my responsibility to make sure I am in right relations with the people I am surrounded by.

The nature of the unity of which the apostle here speaks is that of the Spirit, for it is only by the enabling and empowerment of the Spirit that we are able to maintain the kind of humility it takes to keep that bond. In our own nature we are unable to find this peace since we are carnal man and thus flawed at the core. It is only by the divine power that flows from the throne of God himself that we can be in one heart and mind.

"In light of all this, here’s what I want you to do. While I’m locked up here, a prisoner for the Master, I want you to get out there and walk—better yet, run!—on the road God called you to travel. I don’t want any of you sitting around on your hands. I don’t want anyone strolling off, down some path that goes nowhere. And mark that you do this with humility and discipline—not in fits and starts, but steadily, pouring yourselves out for each other in acts of love, alert at noticing differences and quick at mending fences."
